WHAT'S IN YOUR CONCEPTS SET
It is true that, as individuals, we are constantly searching for meaning in order to make life more valuable. However, the factor that differentiates people here is where we look for meaning. Where do we look for real meaning? Is it in art, politics, our religious beliefs, or other special areas of interest? All of these are on one side, and on the other side, there is a crisis of meaning that a significant part of society/society is in. For example, products gain value not according to their functions, but according to their symbolic meaning; They acquire their social roles through the objects they consume; They are not interested in how the products they consume are made, they are interested in how the products make them happen; They are looking for a good life in the market, not in a quality environment. In short, they don't like the steak, they like the sizzle. Don't you think all these situations show that such individuals are in a crisis of meaning?
No matter where people look for meaning, they cannot help but take refuge in concepts. They "invent" concepts to make life understandable and describe it. Each idea has its own set of concepts. Such as nation, law, democracy, freedom, women's rights, ecology, etc. They can envision a happy future, even if it is distant, in the light of these and similar concepts. They understand them as the constitutive element of life. Concepts are not living, bloody material things, but they provide people with the motivation and energy to make them happy.
The concepts also provide revolutionary excitement; because they emerge as products of a certain level of intelligence. That's why, when necessary, they employ the courts! They face judgment and conviction. Although it may seem contradictory, they also give birth to their own opposites; Of course they have the courage, they fight with it. Of course, we are not saying that concepts always have good associations. For example, fascism is also a concept; such as capitalism... While concepts are a source of humor, struggle and joy for the "Gezi-intellectuals", they carry a bullet of grudge and hatred for the "idiots".
Aside from the positive and negative situations that concepts provide; they give people an identity and It is certain that it provides personality. However, today's people also suffer from another problem; let's say for a hundred years, they have lacked the ability to produce concepts. When we look at the set of concepts they have, they suffer from the problems I mentioned at the beginning of the article. It should be a thesis topic in itself.
However, I know that it would be very difficult for those who rule the world without calling on the concepts for help and without using the manipulation they provide. Should we destroy them completely? But I say; On the other hand, I know that the mind is limited to producing concepts. On the other hand, I cannot help but say that it should not be overlooked that political concepts such as power and nation are used to destroy the entire nature and enslave people.
I got into the topic from the wrong place again! I was trying to write something about the crisis of meaning; I entered the street of concepts and lost my way. I even had the title of the article ready in my mind: "Crisis of Meaning".
I already entered this out-of-tune life from the wrong note once. I hope this amount of surprise can be tolerated. Moreover, on the road of life where we only have one way ticket; While there is no sign or other way to return. Moreover, I could climb to the top of the mountain by following the narrow path of my heart, whose exterior is as blurry as the moon's surface (don't be fooled by its exterior). But unfortunately (!) no one has tried it yet.
Anyway, we should go out, to the street, to the park or garden; Maybe I'll find a familiar smile, a friendly tune, a mediocre cup of tea in the tea garden...
