WHY DON'T THEY GO TO SOCIALIST COUNTRIES? Engin Erkiner
Sometimes the question for political refugees is "why do they go to Western European countries and not socialist countries?" is asked. The question is wrong for three reasons and means not understanding the political refugee status of those who had to leave Turkey.
First; Before 1980, the socialist movement was divided between parties in the USSR, China and Albania. This means that every socialist can only go to the country that suits his/her views. But how? China is very far away, you cannot go to China from Turkey. Those who are against the USSR cannot go to Palestine because everyone there is Sovietist.
Second; This reason is decisive. Political refugees should be considered according to the conditions of each country. It cannot be said that those who escaped from Nazi Germany to the USSR in the 1930s carried out any significant political activity in this country.
Political refugees first go to places where they can carry out political activities. Especially after September 12, political refugees from Turkey were primarily from Germany and other Western Europe.they went to their country because several million Turkish people lived there. Especially in Germany, different political groups had been working for years. These people left one Turkey and went to another. Throughout history, very few political refugees have had such an opportunity.
The criticism of "they both criticize western countries and go to these countries" is a political It is caused by not understanding what is happening. The person, as the name suggests, is political and primarily prefers a place where he can work politically.
Third; Going to a socialist country does not mean entering and staying in that country. Socialist countries only accept very few people from organizations with which they have long-standing relations. It is not always clear who is what, and hostile elements may enter these countries under the guise of socialist.
For all these reasons, but primarily for the second reason, the socialists of Turkey They especially preferred to go to Western European countries. In addition, this place is not far from the country that had to be abandoned and there was even a daily Turkish newspaper in the 1980s.< span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">was available.
