ANOTHER SUICIDE AT GENEVA CHILDREN'S CAMP

OUR VOLUNTEER REPORTER FROM INITIATIVE NAMMOU BAGER ŞEN REPORTS

CHILDREN ARE HUMANITY

One more star fell from Yıldız Child Camp in Geneva...A 19-year-old Afghan youth named Ali Riza Rahimi ended his own life on 28.11.2022.

It is said that he committed suicide by jumping from a high bridge into Lake Geneva. Ali Riza, as a 17-year-old boy, took refuge in Switzerland in 2020, fleeing the endless wars in which the "developed countries" sold a lot of weapons. He was embracing difficulties and discrimination by dreaming of a new beginning in one of the refugee children's camps. But the rejection decision he took from SEM was a big blow to his hope.

In our interview with their friends, many children shared the social management of the camp with a common language. , pointed to the Hospice General and the Refugee Commissioner (SEM) as responsible.

On December 2, 2022, we attended the funeral organized by the children in the camp. There were nearly a hundred child refugees reciting the Qur'an, crying, pulling their hair, and mourning. They had angry and emotional speeches on the Hospice General and social injustice.

They stated that no child should be discriminated against or treated differently because of their color, nationality or culture. They stated that the living and asylum conditions known to the Ukrainians fleeing the war were not known to Afghan and other nationality children who had grown up in the war for years, and that many children and adults who were dragged into the vortex of uncertainty and despair committed suicide. They stated that the person was lost, that if they do not fight for this injustice, they will lose again and again, that it is necessary to put an end to ethnic and religious discrimination and create a common solidarity network.

Share and sign the petition they prepared. They started the campaign.

Then they showed the last letter Ali Riza had left in his friend's room when he was leaving. Addressing the authorities and his friends in the handwritten letter, the young man wrote:

" I socially adapted to the people of Geneva during my time here. I somehow struggled to learn languages, started learning music (violin). I found a family here, thank you. And I have a girlfriend. Name: Enice.”

"First of all, I got bad news, I lost my winter sister last year, I had no money, I couldn't do anything; it was a tough time. I was going through depressive times. The person I love supported me"

"I apologize to you. I'm going through the same things right now, I've lived the past, this moment, the present over and over again. I wanted to write my own book, but I will never be able to read it, see it, and never be able to reach it.

I DO NOT LIKE MONKEYS

Thanks everyone, I will always remember you. Don't tell my parents. Take care, folks.

Don't tell my parents.
