Engin ERKINER Wrote THE PROBLEM OF EXPORT AND LEADERSHIP
THE PROBLEM OF EXPORT AND LEADERSHIP Especially after the September 12, 1980 coup, the managers and staff of many socialist organizations had to leave the country. Some had been out of the country for several years. All of them were wanted, and if they were caught, torture, heavy prison sentences, perhaps death awaited them. The first few years were spent waiting for the results of the asylum application and getting used to the new country a bit. Then unforeseen problems began to arise. While in the country, people did not see each other often, as many had to carry out illegal activities. For security reasons, this does not apply. PROBLEM OF EXCLUSION AND LEADERSHIP There was a llama. Therefore, the people of the same organization would not have seen and recognized each other in different fields. Outside the country, the situation has changed. It was possible to meet frequently, to talk at length about any subject that could be thought of, and to be together in different areas. The result was the disappointment of many organization militants. They had the opportunity to get to know their leaders, whom they did not know very well due to the conditions in the country, and "Is this what ruled us for years?" The question was inevitably considered. The leader or leaders who were seen as sufficient in many areas, if not in every subject in the country, became other people outside the country. They could not even do simple tasks themselves. They were going to a language course, but they could not be said to be able to learn a language. This was a different country and people developed differently under different conditions. One of the important reasons for the organizational separations experienced abroad -even if not explicitly stated- was this inadequacy of the leaders, not being able to adapt to the new country. If a reason is sought, it will be found. The most preferred reason, especially by the misfits, was as follows: revolution is not made here, it is done in the country we left behind. In reality, the political man is political everywhere. He overcomes difficulties and finds ways to be political in the new country. As the years go by, the situation gets worse. Many organization leaders who cannot learn the language even enough to read the newspaper are in a situation where they do not know what to do. There have been political organizations in the country they came from that advocate the same views, but they are interviewed by an interpreter, even if years have passed since they came. Having learned the language, even if it is not perfect, is especially necessary for you to be taken seriously in such interviews. The leader may not feel the strangeness of the situation, but the translator organization member understands. Then, new problems will arise within the organization. Many leaders of a revolutionary generation known as the 1978s in the socialist movement would have disappeared abroad. They could not go out of a narrow circle and could understand what was happening in the country they lived in as much as it was written in Turkish newspapers or conveyed to them by those who knew the language. It was the result of this lack of communication that still sees xenophobia and racism as the main problem of exiles or immigrants in general, especially in politically active countries like Germany. I wish these people, who gave their years to the socialist movement, to be better, but unfortunately, it is not possible to want...
