RUHAN MAVRUK
We share with our friends a poem by poet, writer, human rights defender Ruhan Mavruk, who has made a name for herself with her latest book 'Welcome Geronimo', which consists of poems, interviews and letters, with her English translation.
I AM A WOMAN
question marks through the lines,
haven’t I hanged the iron curtains
againist the sun
have human merchants dragged my body
in the slave bazaars
have I decorated tables to my jailers,
gave birth kids to the storm,
carried the civilications with my hair
have smoky men whose loves are sailed
been raining down on the night
in some days, have I digged my grave
with my own hands
to some, have I been consisting of a bloody spot,
the queen in the history of tribes, to some
have I washed and acquitted my other half
were I snow, tempest, lonely
have I felt the skin of the starvation in the dark ,
the courage of the fear
had I got solely a pen
I written!
